GIA DIAMOND GRADING REPORT
The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is the benchmark within the industry, having created the diamond grading system the world uses today.
The information provided on a GIA Diamond Grading Report includes:
- Diamond shape and cut style
- Measurement of dimensions
- Carat Weight of the diamond to nearest hundredth of a carat (second decimal)
- Color Grade is evaluated for the relative absence of color, D being the highest
- Clarity Grade graded from Flawless to I3
- Cut Grade evaluated based on your diamond’s appearance face-up
- Finish which is the surface of your diamond and the placement of facets
- Polish tells you how smooth the surface of your diamond is
- Symmetry includes facet placement, how well they align in relationship to one another, proportion measurements and trueness of outline shape
- Fluorescence – The strength and color your diamond emits when exposed to Ultraviolet light
- Comments – Mention anything not found anywhere else of the report
- Clarity Plot – A diagram showing the type, position and relative size of inclusions that set the grade of your diamond
- Proportion Diagram –Shows dimensions of your diamond. Measurements include depth, table size, range of girdle thickness and culet appearance.
