At 545.67 carats the Golden Jubilee is the largest faceted diamond in the world. It was found in 1985 and presented to the King of Thailand for his Golden Jubilee anniversary of his coronation. Previously, it was referred to as “The Un-Named Brown”.
THE CULLINAN II
Set into the Imperial State Crown of Great Britain, the Cullinan II weighs 317.40 carats. The Cullinan II is one of ten diamonds cut from a rough diamond weighing 2106 carats (about 1.3 pounds). All of the largest Cullinan diamonds remain in either the British Crown Jewels or owned by the Royal Family.
THE DE BEERS DIAMOND
Found in 1888, it wasn’t until 1928 that the DeBeers Diamond was set into what is known as the Patiala Necklace. The Maharaja of Patiala bought the DeBeers Diamond after it was on display in Paris and commissioned Cartier of Paris to build a ceremonial necklace featuring the DeBeers diamond in the center. The necklace originally held 2,930 diamonds totaling 962.25 carats.
THE JUBILEE DIAMOND
A cushion cut diamond weighing 245.35 carats, the Jubilee Diamond was found in 1895. The diamond was finished being polished and named to commemorate Queen Victoria’s 75th Anniversary of her coronation.
