Are You Tall Enough To Ride This Ride?
Img_0048blog

If you’ve ever been to our shop it isn’t going to blow you away with how much jewelry sits in our showcases.

A museum, we are not.

CRAIG COYNE is more like an amusement park ride. You have an idea of what thrills you and the same old ride isn’t going to cut it. Not this time anyway.

The woman who gets this ring doesn’t even now she’s in for the ride of her life! She better grab a seat and hold tight because the thrill is going to last, and last and last for a very long, long time!

The Corbin Blue
Img_0047blog

If you read the title quickly you may think I’ve gone crazy and decided to be a food critic. Sorry but Chicken Cordon Blue is NOT on the menu here!

This very attractive natural blue sapphire and diamond engagement ring was, however, “Cooked To Order” for Mr. Corbin.

I present you with “The Corbin Blue”.

Yes, you can name your jewelry, especially when it comes from CRAIG COYNE and was made exclusively with you in mind.

Congratulations to the Corbins.

Cheers,

Sam

Oooh! TANZANITE is my friend!
342

For those of you who missed our Colored Gemstone Show, you really missed a great event. The gemstones looked like bright Easter candy in the showcases, begging to be picked up and admired. The colors were so intense. Stunning!

We gave away this magnificent Tanzanite. Rebecca, I can’t wait to see what the hubby does with it as a surprise for you!

If you haven’t heard me say it….THANK YOU everyone for making our shows the best around!

Small Finger, Big Rock!
Img_0014_blog_

Phil and Elaine,

Congratulations on your engagement!

The decision to go with modest use of side diamonds in a clean and contemporary style, make this Asscher cut diamond pop! Of course, the Asscher is huge and of exceptional quality so we could have put it in a bucket of mud and it would still shine from here to Canada! LOL.

My job is great!

Platinum and Diamond, Estate
Joel_web_

All the best to you both!

This engagement ring is an outstanding example of an era long ago. After some hallmark research, we learned the company who made it was founded in Pittsburgh in the 1860’s. Later moving to Baltimore in 1874 it continued until it burned to the ground in 1930.

Not only does thing ring come with heritage from an important maker in our area, it also has important connections to an important family in Mt. Vernon, Baltimore. A private residence overlooking the Washington Monument, by the Peabody Conservatory and The Engineers Club was one of several places the family called home.

By falling in love, Joel carries the past glamour of this ring into a bright new future. Well done!

Knowledge and Experience
Sam6

I write a lot about artistic ability and about the people that inspire us to make beautiful jewelry.

I forget sometimes that many clients find us because of our credentials and longstanding history in the jewelry business.

Whether you like our style or find our knowledge and experience comforting, we appreciate the business.

When WBAL Channel 11 needed expert advise on a feature story about selling your gold, the I-Team called on us for help.

CRAIG COYNE is a trusted name in your community and we plan on keeping it that way!

Cherry Blossoms
_web_

If the store you shop at seems less than thrilled to entertain your ideas, check this out!

Ed wanted everything to be perfect and started by introducing me to his fiancée and her mother. After we captured important information, Ed and I worked together to make the perfect engagement ring.

Sometime Friday night, when I was in Baltimore watching Monster Trucks and later having sushi in Mt. Vernon (odd combo, I know…LOL), Ed proposed!

I just got an email from Ed, who wrote, “I asked her. She said “YES!”

Masterfully hand engraved with flowing images of Cherry Blossoms makes this ring one of a kind!

Congratulations!

Valentines Day Massacre
Line3_web_

When we send mail, it is our intention that you find it meaningful and important to read. Trying hard not to be a nuisance, CRAIG COYNE sends a simple postcard with a simple message.

Apparently a few of you got our message!

Beginning at 7:30AM on Valentines Day, our loyal customers began to form a line in front our Historic Ellicott City store.

Our best guess is that 150 people showed up that day.

We appreciate it all and hope that our jewelry is being worn daily and cherished always.

Thank you kindly.

Cheers,

Negative Space, An Attractive Option
Img_0023_web_

If you are becoming frustrated and not finding a great wedding band, come see us. Your ideas are taken seriously and we do our best to help you see them come to life.

Meghan’s engagement ring is lovely, but a normal wedding band creates lots of open spaces and she didn’t like that.

One trick we show our customers is to create a stronger sense of balance and the spaces don’t seem to bother you so much.

Try stacking a ring on each side. We made two identical bands using similar diamond shapes and setting styles. Because the spaces are balanced and uniform, they became a benefit in Meghan’s eyes!

The use of negative space is an artistic approach that we handle better than most.

Made To Order
Barrons_web_

An inherited engagement ring can pose some problems when it comes time to choosing a wedding band.

Don’t let what is on the market today dissuade you from what you really have in mind.

If you pay attention to just a few design elements, you will be amazed at how a new wedding band will compliment what you already own.

This is what we did for Vikas and Shailer and we think it’s looking pretty good!

Cheers,

Sam

A Dream...
18-00431_web_

Sometimes a dream piece of jewelry already exists in the world, almost as if someone read your mind and built it for you.

After a consultation, we provide samples of well-made jewelry in the styles and budgets that are important to you.

This sapphire and diamond ring saves us the time and expense of making it ourselves.

YOU WARE, Defined
15-00390_web2_

Many people wonder about our logo/tag line, YOU WARE.

The process behind creating a quality piece of jewelry is very complicated and blends technical details with artistic style. That is true of all jewelry, but what about the jewelry you want to wear? Doesn’t it also have to be affordable and lasting? Shouldn’t the jewelry you wear be special?

Making decisions without getting to know your customer first, is foolish and costly. We put people first, making something unique and well-suited for you to wear. If we did our job well, the jewelry you take home is deeply intimate, expressing who you are, what you believe and what’s in your heart.

Anyone can make stuff including jewelry and without a commitment to you as a person that’s all it will ever be. We believe the world is filled with ordinary things and we simply do not wish to contribute to it in any way.

Craig Coyne doesn’t have stuff, what we offer even goes beyond ordinary jewelry. What Craig Coyne creates is for you to wear and for you alone.

It is YOU WARE.

Professionally,

Sam Coyne

Magnificent Engagement

When Chris and Kristen first came to see me, they had specific ideas. Fortunately for me their design sense was solid and they were artistic.

Here’s the fruit of our efforts. It took many weeks to make and so it should. If it were easy to do, we wouldn’t find it so striking!

Congratulations to Chris and Kristen! (very cool couple – very cool ring)

More Than A Million & Only Two
Img_0007_web_

More than a million people gathered in Washington, D.C. to celebrate the inauguration of the forty-fourth president of the United States. With so many people coming together, the social scene exploded. Parties and a parade, luncheons and dinners, people gathered with hopes of a better future. Several Craig Coyne originals made it to Washington, D.C. adorning our clients and adding to the excitement and scene.

For a moment, just imagine the sheer volume of intimate moments that were shared during such an event. I want to share one of those personal moments with you.

Surrounded by a sea of strangers, Jon and Jess went ice skating outside, the weekend before the inauguration. Jon proposed. Many of their friends were included and witnessed as Jon put the ring on her finger and Jess said, “Yes!”

A crowd of more than a million anonymous people, doesn’t compare to the satisfaction of helping two people personally.

I wish you the very best!

She Will Say Yes
15-00232_web_

Without ever meeting her, the woman about to receive this engagement ring is someone I like.

One statement only and I was convinced.

Her boyfriend stood in my store and simply said, “I wouldn’t need a ring at all. She’s not that kind of girl. She will say yes regardless.”

For the woman who will wear this ring, I will be your family jeweler for the rest of your life. That is assuming you do indeed say yes! LOL

Congratulations Eli!

Stepping Up to Step Down
15-00394_c_

A DC resident stepped up to the plate with this fancy colored sapphire and diamond engagement ring that we made for him.

The sapphires step down from the center, offering simple architecture and better contrast.

We reviewed and matched sapphires, chose an ideal cut diamond of exceptional quality in the center and made the ring entirely of platinum.

Quality construction takes time and effort, but we feel it makes all the difference.

Congratulations to Bill and Teresa!

All Aboard!
15-00321blog

Your girlfriend is leaving from Florida to work on a cruise ship for four months. You live in Maryland and go to school in Pennsylvania.

Sounds like the beginning of a sad country song, minus the pick-up truck and dog.

Many people grab a hold of opportunity, but Bryan catapulted himself over almost every obstacle to land himself squarely where he wanted.

Ring in hand and determined to propose before she left, Bryan reversed the sadness of saying good bye, replacing it with the excitement of engagement and dreams of a future together.

Take a look at the ring. I think the cruise ship will navigate safely home with the beacon of light coming of this baby!

Congratulation!

From Boyfriend to Fiance
Carvere13502_email_

Dear Heather,

Your boyfriend came to me with a clear idea about what he wanted, the very best. But there is something I want you to know. The best wasn’t enough for Todd. He wanted a well-done, unique ring that reflected your taste and his sentiment.

Todd never stopped thinking about you and how to make you happy. I could see him asking himself, “Will she like it?”.

I am thrilled that you do.

The very best of anything means nothing without truly caring. Congratulations on finding the one who does.

Five and Dime Affection
Rizzigblog

This story is a good one. When they first dated he was given a “five and dime” silver ring that was cool but not very expensive. He lost it. Time passes, he proposes, she says yes and the ring shows up! It was smashed into the track below his car seat (I’m sure there is a story there, but I won’t get into that now). The new-found, smashed ring was the inspiration behind what we made as his new wedding ring!

Last night on Halloween, they married.

Congratulations to Grant and Jessi!

Best Wishes,

Tracy’s engagement diamond is featured here in a custom-made ring. It too was honored and given a new beginning.

The strength of their family, respect for how they started, and the added value of something new and exciting made this creation particularly satisfying.

I’m thrilled that I was chosen to help. You have my deepest gratitude.

Practicality Conquered!

A practical woman understands that a home has many needs, but how many women would choose a steel fridge over a diamond engagement ring?

Fortunately, my latest client made sure his fiancee will have both.

Somehow, I think the ice coming out of the fridge won’t last as long as the ice on her finger!

Casey, It was a pleasure. Congratulations! Please introduce Donna after your proposal.

IDEAL CUT DIAMONDS AND GOOD OLD FASHIONED COMMON SENSE.

If you could buy an ideal cut diamond, a diamond with such precise proportions that mathematically its considered the very best, wouldnt you consider it?

If you could buy a diamond that is more beautiful than others, a diamond graded with the latest in light performance technology, wouldnt you consider it?

If you could buy an eight hearts and eight arrows diamond that is dissected during the grading process with such incredible accuracy that your level of certainty is guaranteed, wouldnt you consider it?

If you could buy an ideal cut diamond with such strong value that the price withstood the harshest internet search available including every major diamond website, ebay, Blue Nile, and Craigs List, wouldnt you consider it?

If you could buy the most beautiful diamond using your own eyes while sitting in a local and comfortable store using the finest available binocular zoom microscope, wouldnt you consider it?

If you could buy the most brilliant diamond with a Graduate Gemologist trained at the Gemological Institute of America who acts as your guide through a maze of questions and concerns, wouldnt you consider it?

If you could be convinced of anything, you should be convinced we are worth the trip. Please consider Craig Coyne.

Complete Protection Package

If you have lots of jewelry and none of it is particularly valuable, you may think it’s not worth appraising. What if your whole jewelry box was stolen? Now, all of those moderately priced pieces of jewelry have added up to a large financial loss to you.

After doing some research, I learned that theft is at an all time high. I then spoke with some customers and was amazed at how many had suffered losses. That’s when I decided to take action and create a plan that will truly protect my customers. The Complete Protection Package is here.

The policies within this package include:

Never Without – the appraisals will be done in front of you, while you wait so that you never have to leave your jewelry.

Continuous Update – our sophisticated information management works continuously so that we can notify you when the value of your jewelry changes.

Replacement – our digital imaging equipment is superior, giving us the ability to re-create your jewelry if you ever suffer a loss.

Always Clean – we will professionally clean your jewelry for free whenever you like, for a lifetime.

Safety Check – we will professionally examine your jewelry for free in an effort to prevent loss and we’ll do it for a lifetime.

We have the credentials insurance companies require:

* Graduate Gemologist, Gemological Institute of America

* Member, National Association of Jewelry Appraisers

RETURN FROM VEGAS

We’re back from Las Vegas. In case you missed it, we closed the store to go on a huge buying trip.

Michael bought his way through the International Antique & Estate Jewelry show. He opened numerous new accounts and found some increbible jewels. My favorites are a few Art Nouveau jewels that Michael found at a strong value.

Jesse attended the 16th Annual Jewelry Show where he found fresh, new designers from all over the United States and the world. An “unbreakable” new Titanium collection from Belgium captured my attention immediately. The patented technique makes thin wires of Titanium unable to be bent. I especially enjoyed the delicate and feminine style coupled with the extreme durability. Great for travel, the fashion forward and the “rough and tough” active woman.

Wonderful Windex

Here’s a little trick that jewelers have known about for years…if your rings are stuck on your fingers, try a spray of Windex! Yes, Windex. Windex makes skin very slippery but still allows you to hold tightly to your ring, making it so much easier to take off.

Cheers,

Sam

I hope that every woman in the world at least one time in their life experiences the sensation a ring like this can create. Congratulations to the adorable woman who calls it her own!

Art and jewelry coincide if you do things correctly. Here are two rings that we were commissioned to create recently. The design ideas are very different, but the strong execution carries both into a realm most think of as Art.

What can we create for you?

Some jewelry is more than adornment. The heritage of the necklace I’m showing adds an academic element to ownership.

This image of Olenka and her daughter is beautiful to me. I’m thrilled with the idea that we helped Olenka to become engaged and now her daughter is shopping with us too! LOL
